Stephen Lawrence Day Essay Competition Winner

In April 2022, we again ran our annual Stephen Lawrence Day (SLD) essay competition in honour of and to further the message of Stephen Lawrence Day and the Stephen Lawrence Foundation. The aim of the essay competition is to support access to the Bar for those from underrepresented backgrounds. The competition was open to 16-18 year olds attending a non-fee paying school.

We were highly impressed by the eloquence and social awareness of the entrants, and are delighted to announce the winners are:

  • 1st place: Zunairah Qureshi, who is in Year 12 at The Heathland School;
  • 2nd place: Divine Offomah, who is in Year 12 at The Latymer School; and
  • 3rd place: Ying Li, who is in Year 12 at St Paul’s Way Trust School.

All of our winners will receive prizes, including work experience, mentoring and a legal book voucher.

Zunairah’s winning entry, on the topic “What law would you change or enact to help young people live their best lives?” can be read below.
