Mark Townsend is now a full tenant of New Square Chambers

Following the successful completion of his third six pupillage, we are delighted to announce that Mark Townsend is now a full tenant of New Square Chambers.
Mark has practiced at the Cape Bar in South Africa since 2010. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2023.
Mark has experience in corporate and commercial matters, property matters, professional negligence matters, inheritance matters, and civil fraud matters.
Mark co-authored the latest edition of Amler’s Pleadings, a leading textbook on pleading in South Africa, which was published by LexisNexis in September 2024. He has also served as the Secretary of the Cape Bar Council.
Before joining the Bar, Mark clerked for Justice Ngcobo at the Constitutional Court of South Africa; he practised as an attorney in South Africa; and he worked as a development editor at Oxford University Press.
Mark recently completed the advanced Master’s programme in international dispute settlement and arbitration at Leiden University in the Netherlands, having graduated cum laude.
