John Ross Martyn
John Ross Martyn was a valued and much-loved member of chambers since he joined us from Hogarth Chambers in 2008 until his retirement in 2013. Generous with his time, dedicated to his work, and the model of a gentleman, John died last month, and Rodney Stewart Smith and Alexander Learmonth QC attended his memorial service today.
All of us at New Square Chambers pass on our condolences to his family, especially his widow Beryl, his brother Geoffrey, and his children Philip and Elizabeth. Philip even brought a copy of Williams, Mortimer & Sunnucks on Executors, Administrators and Probate, and read an extract from the foreword written by our former head of chambers, the late HHJ Charles Purle QC, during his eulogy. His contribution to the Inn and to the law, particularly in his specialist field of succession, was enormous. Rest in peace John.
If you knew him, or even if you didn’t, do consider donating to the PSP Association in his memory, see link below.
