James McKean’s success for Inheritance Act adult child claimant in Howe v Howe

James McKean, instructed by Andrew Bishop, Caoimhe Turner, and Joe Myhill of Rothley Law, acted for the claimant in Howe v Howe.
The same team acted in the successful appeal in related insolvency proceedings last year: Howe v Leck Holdings Limited [2024] EWHC 1842 .
In seemingly the first award to follow the Supreme Court’s judgment in Hirachand v Hirachand [2024] UKSC 43, the claimant received a sum of £125,000, settled on trust. Part of the award was £50,469 to pay a costs order made against the claimant in a previous probate claim against the estate.
