Date: 28 November 2022
Gary Pryce features in the November issue of Counsel magazine, co-authoring an article on ‘Black inclusion and the Commercial Bar’ with Krista Lee KC and Brie Stevens-Hoare KC.
The Commercial Bar Association (COMBAR), the Chancery Bar Association (ChBA) and the Technology and Construction Bar Association (TECBAR), together with members of the Specialist Bar Associations (SBAs) collaborated in an enquiry in a joint effort to tackle racial inequality. They reflect on findings of the report, on the very challenging experiences and views shared by black barristers, as well as navigating the way forward in how things need to change.
COMBAR, TecBar, and the ChBA will be holding an event to launch the report of the Black Inclusion Group, which will take place in central London at 6pm on Monday 5 December 2022. The Black Inclusion Group is a cross-SBA working group, jointly set up by ChBA, COMBAR and TecBar to investigate and issue an advisory report with recommendations on enhancing outreach to and recruitment, retention, and progression of ethnic minority barristers, with a focus on Black (African and African Caribbean and mixed Heritage) barristers in the Commercial, Chancery and Technology and Construction Bar. At the event on 5 December, we propose the discuss the findings of the Black Inclusion Group as well as outlining some of the initiatives that the SBAs have been undertaking to tackle the equalities addressed in their Report. Please confirm your attendance by emailing the COMBAR Administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
