Overview
Alessio became a member of Chambers in April 2026 following the successful completion of his pupillage and is building a practice across Chambers’ core practice areas. Alessio has developed a particular interest in insolvency work, having been seconded to the offices of a specialist insolvency firm.
Recent highlights include:
- Acting in a number of injunctions to restrain presentation of a winding-up petition;
- Negotiating a successful settlement for a creditor in an application to set aside a statutory demand;
- Advising on the enforceability of a personal guarantee and indemnity;
- Securing summary judgment for the recovery of a contractual debt;
- Successfully resisting the substitution of a supporting creditor;
- Preparing a research note on the enforcement of foreign judgments in England and Wales;
- Responding to a statutory demand, which resulted in the demand being withdrawn.
During pupillage, Alessio gained experience of the following:
- Drafting particulars of claim challenging the validity of a will;
- Drafting an opinion on the merits of a claim in proprietary estoppel and under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975;
- Drafting an opinion on whether a commercial landlord had reasonably withheld consent to assign;
- Drafting a defence relating to the effect of disclaimer on the rights of a mortgagee of leasehold property;
- Drafting costs submissions in a high-value trusts dispute.
Prior to pupillage, Alessio spent c. 2 years working as a County Court Advocate, acting in bankruptcy petitions, mortgage possession hearings, landlord and tenant disputes, small claim trials, and a wide range of interim applications. He was often praised by Judges for his courteous manner and his staunch defence of clients.
Alessio holds an undergraduate degree in English and Russian from the University of Bologna, where he obtained a grade of 110/110 cum laude. During his studies, he received scholarships to Russia (where he spent six months finessing his language skills) and the United States (where he taught languages both at university level and in a primary school).
